Trail-access permits in Quebec
To ride Quebec's federated trails legally, you need a trail-access pass. It's the first thing to sort out before planning your North Shore trip. Here's how it works, plainly.
What the access pass is
Federated trails are maintained by snowmobile clubs, and the access pass is what funds that work: grooming, signage, upkeep. Without it, you're not allowed on those trails.
Your options
You can buy a pass for the full season, or temporary passes for a few days if you're coming for a trip. For an out-of-province visitor, the temporary pass is often the sensible option. Check with the FCMQ for current terms.
And the rest
Beyond the access pass, your snowmobile must be registered and insured, and you need the right age and documents to ride. If you rent or book a package, some of that may be included; check what is.
